do i have to change the timing on my vespa

hi my dads got a px125 with a 170 dr kit it has a sterling exhaust 28 delorto carb but jetted to suit do i have to change the timing because ive been told i have to, if i do have to change it how much to i change it ?

no its ticking over a reving fine some people have said change it and some say keep it the same i wil just see how his scooter runs ta for the help all
