Can anyone help me out please? Imola engine, fuel getting into cylinder and good spark but she won't fire up. I have had the engine running and it used to start first kick but it has been stood since before xmas. Any comments or advice very welcome.

I had similar difficulties when i first built my Imola. Basically it came down to carb. settings. I used a 28mm Dellorto.
However, i eventually discovered the best way to get it to start from cold was full choke and absolutely no throttle. Usually fired between 1 and 3 kicks. Choke off as soon as i was away (100 - 200 Metres)
Having worked the starting out, i was then able to adjust the jetting throughout the range.

You need to think about what you have done since it last started well...

If you haven't done anything AT ALL then I'd likely look to the fuel and fuel supply (choke working? fuel good?),first though I'd disconnect the green from the CDI to eliminate the ignition circuit and some stator problems from the equation. (sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs )

My Imola hadn't run or been touched for 3 months but started on the 6th kick last week.

Could be 2 stroke oil settled in the bottom of the tank, try mixing the fuel/oil again in the tank and cleaning the carb. If its got fuel,spark and compresion it should start.

You say new petals not been on the road, so has it run since you did the work? did you replace like for like?
Carb rubber split?
What manifold have you got? mine had the original rubber one that split in the end
Stick your hand over the carb mouth as you kick it and see what sort of suck and blow you are getting

I built the engine ages ago fitted it in the frame and it ran really well and would start first kick even if i left it for a week without starting. I then stripped it again to get the casings painted and re built it exactly the same way. I also changed the original rubber manifold for the new metal one with quality rubber carb mount. I did change the choke cable recently and that may not be working properly so i will fit the flip choke that came with the carb. I also left the fuel on so maybe the oil has sunk to the bottom of the tank/carb i will strip the carb down and remix the fuel and see how i go. Thanks for your comments. Pete

Hi,i have these problems when my ts1 is left for a long time,all i do is pop the panel off flick the choke on then put my hand over the bell mouth to shut the air off ,with 2 or 3 good kicks she fires up,hope this helps.

if you've stripped the carb and blown everything out, did you check if the fuel valve jet was securely tightened. I only say this cos i had one loosen off in a dellorto and too much fuel was getting through constantly.
