Just a question if anyone has any experience on comments on bolting on a reed valve.
I had one on a vespa years ago which was rubbish, even after 360 degree timing and plenty of porting and tinkering it wasn't great, too low primary compression?
Anyway I've got a kx65 and an rd barrel to cut up to make a couple of manifolds and it'll be on a 210ish barrel but i want to use a JL4 and lightened lightened original AF flywheel and the idea was revs and an impractical childish motor for my cutdown.
Interested in any comments on the above and whether it's worth going with the reed or just stage 17 the barrel, thanks in advance.

I'm intersted in this subject too, there are at least 3 aftermarket ones available for lambretta piston ported barrels, 2 from LTH and one from MB. Mark Broadhurst has posted a longish account of his experience with developing reed manifolds on the MB facebook site which is worth reading. Success seems to revolve around getting the reeds close to the piston and also choosing reeds with the right stiffness amoung other things.

I have a lot to learn yet  Hopefully ;) some experts will chip in

Thanks for that, I'll have a look - I think getting the reeds as close as possible is vital but also that the block can't be too big or else you're going to lose all intake velocity, I think that's where the old 8 petal manifolds fell down.
The kx block is small and the rubber manifold extends into the reed using up a lot of dead space.
This could be just a case of experimenting/p1551ing about which is about 90% of lambretta ownership anyway.
