i use twin speaker cable because its descreat crimp the ends and plug it on the bars end and run it down to the rear switch and joined it there.

i dont use the rear brake so people moan that my brake light doesnt work, but not now :P

But can I keep it so I have brake lights with the pedal as well as the front brake?

of course, something like this :

a generic diagram, adapt to fit in with your connections etc...
[and of course, pedantically, the switch symbols are incorrect, as they are momentary, but you get the idea...]

i use the twin wire streight to the foot brake switch and just wire it in paralel (one wire each side) saves frigging with the headset wiring. each method is fine, i just take the path of least disturbance.

Easiest is as Byrons diagram, take a live from headset brown to switch then a wire from switch down hornstem to rear brake switch and fit a new bullet to it and the bulb feed wire.
