Won't start in cold

Just put together a Stage 4 for a mate, its all standard using a 22mm jettex (with std. jetting) & sterling exhaust. The scoot will not start in cold. It will only start if I fiddle with the air screw. Once hot, the scoot runs like a champ and idles beautifully. I can stop the engine and kick it again and it will start on the very first kick.

Anyone has a clue of what might be the problem? I end up with a very strong leg after every kickstarting session

Best,

Jaime

2nd Choke.

Check the choke jet to see if it's blocked at all. If not it sounds like your choke jet could be to small, lastly check the choke cable mechanism is engaging and working properly.

Good luck :-)

Have you tried a larger pilot Jamie?

I have one with a Jetex on here. It'll start and then idle high, but if you give it a handle full, cuts out, until it backfires once, then it's lovely. Prolly the Choke or idle I am sure, but having this start up procedure stops any one from staring it up and stealing it ;) :)

Ok lads many thanks for the replies so far, I'll try to check the choke firstly, see if everything is correct there. So would you reckon I might need a larger idle jet?

J.

Not if it's ok when warm . . I'd bet it's the choke jet blocked or not opening.
