Ok, it’s been a while since they were featured in Scootering and I know some of you Guys posted that you had fitted these clutches

Well you must have done a few miles on them by now, so what’s the verdict, are they any good?

I need a light clutch to handle 25Bhp without breaking the bank

lovely fitting clutch, smooth action, however I found it couldn't handle the power of my Monza and Fransspeed race pipe, I guess 20bhp+. I contacted Pat of SSC and he has sent over some uprated springs FOC, so I'll be installing a new set of plates, and springs over winter. Perhaps if it wasn't for my 18st and franspeed race pipe the clutch might not have slippped
I'm hoping the new springs are the fix as I really like the ability to change plates by just undoing the 4 allen bolts. obviously the clutch wont be so light with the uprated springs though.

Also having problems with the springs, they seem too soft, virtually fully compressed just from tightening the allen studs on top.

Slipping when pushed along in gear.

If anyone knows or can suggest this eve' what springs can be used to combat slipping I'd appreciate it, otherwise it'll have to come out before weekend and stick an 47 tooth sprocket in and go 4 plate.

I can ask Morris tomorrow, but if anyone can offer any ideas tonight....

how long are the springs ,how many coils and what diameter wire how much compression do you need in mm.you might be able to find a better spring at a breakers

Mark, I don't know on all counts. They're still in there until tomorrow.

the uprated springs I received are no better that the originals, so currently she has a new set of plates and I'm taking it easy until hopefully, like you, get an answer to finding stronger springs.
currenly I would say 15bhp is the limt for longevity with this clutch. shame as its so smooth and a lovely fit.

what gear oil are you using ?.

Spoke to Morris today and he says they are Honda springs, which can be exchanged for other stronger Honda springs of same dimensions but stronger preload. Take the originals with you to a breakers to compare possibly.

Somebody else suggested cutting the originals down in height...but can't see how that would work, they will lose the flat fitting surface area?

No oil in my gearbox at the moment, the plates are dry, but it slips kicking it over and just by pushing back wheel around when in gear.

Believe the plates maybe NSR Honda. These run SAE 40, is 90 still nessecary...I was asking this question the other day. What oil is being used with the new clutch that's mentioned in a thread on here?
