rubber mounts

Q. Why do modern kits have rubber mounter carbs? To me it seems a like a bad idea as the rubber will split/crack sooner or later?

Understand the frothing fuel but most mounts are more jubilee clip than rubber so are we loosing some of the benefit trying to keep the carb on?

aye scott, nar what you mean. thats why i run a solid mount 30mm. one less thing to go wrong. never had any fuel throff off it either. how many expensive engines go bang over a split carb rubber? had it on all year, and just took it off for a clean after brid. did it look like my fuel was throthing on the "highland scoot"? (i"m away to put me teeth in.....)

Sorry Mike, but even with a rubber mount, you still get frothing in the float bowl simply due to the vibes, man

after i seen you at brid, i wanged the arse off it for 30 mile, then on the sunday put all the luggage on it, and me and jan did 40 miles+ .up hill and down dale, and ive used it for work for a week (i changed the smelly oil), and it seems fine. just kept the bits i bought for my JET200 motor. (ghost in the machine) dunno if you"ll get a solid mount manifold for an IMOLA/TS1, but the reason ive come away from rubber mount carbs , is that they are shite, unless you keep 30 quids worth of rubbers and clips in your toolbox for a season. theres at least half a dozen people i know of after solid mounts for that reason alone.
