This is my first attempt to build serious tuning engine and I have few questions. I try to describe my set up as well as I can here.

So I started with my engine casings, I did some cutting and serious welding to make fixed bed for the reed valves, now they are laying nicely in a middle of engine block over a huge rectangular inlet hole, i did it so that the reeds would be just few mm away from cranckshaft. I chose fullcircle longstroke crank from Mazzuchelli and Malossi cylinder with new Malossi head. Now my question is, which is the best way to put the backings needed for longstroke crank, should I put all 1,5mm at the bottom or all at the top or half & half ? I would like hear other people experience with a similar set up or just general opinions before I start altering my exhaust/transfer port(s)
Rest of the set up is Mikuni tmx 30mm + RZ evo 2000 pipe + modified home made stronger clutch. At the moment i have regular ignition with lightened flywheel. Should I go for Vespatronic or Parmakit, are these worth of the money?

All info is wellcome

I have same setup, I run with a metal packer plate at the bottom rather than the card type.I changed cosa clutch back to 7 pot standard though. I have also drilled out the petrol tap for better fuel delivery. I also run it with an Agusto 7000 and this has made a big difference, much smoother accross the range especially bottom end at low revs. One thing you might want to consider is a bigger tank and a fuel pump as your range will only be about 80 miles to a tank max(I carry a petrol can as the economy version of this upgrade). An overdraft is also a good option.
I use a 30mm good old delly with a 130 main jet and a JL RHS also a T5 4th gear. Good for 80mph in right conditions with great acceleration. Kit can be worked on to give a bit more if required.

I'm in the same situation and would appreciate any kind of information about the subject, mainly on the position of the backings. Theoretically puting a 1.5 mm gasket under the cylinder would rise cylinder (3 mm: 1,5 gasket + 1,5 mm 1/2 stroke) too much, so the engine performance would be even more revy then with the 57 mm crank. But that is the theory ...

However, with the gasket under or above the cylinder, Will you match the exhaust/transfer ports to the top of the piston at BDC?

I had px200 longstroke with piston and barrel work done with centre plug head. Set up was as follows
Malossi 210 modified barrel and piston
Reedspeed centre plug head (what a difference)
Full circle 60mm crank
PM up and over
30mm delli with fuel pump fast flow fuel tap
HP4 then ditched it for lightened flywheel
Tried packer at the bottom and it ran like shite put 1.5mm packer at the top and it went like a missile.

Any tricks to drilling out petrol tap or is it straight forward.

Thaks mate. What mods did you do to the barrel and piston?

I used that one too, + some own modification into it.
But i cant tell any results yet, i have some major problems with my engine casings. I had to do a bit more welding and lathing, and the lathing part wasnt so successful. Im too lazy to write what went wrong, and 1 picture says thousand words, so i try to get few thousand words here soon...
