nothing wrong with the polini piston other than it has just two oversises but ive read elswhere that the pinasco piston is the same piston but bigger??
the barrel is scored so by the time its rebored i think ill have lost the over sise option so was looking for alternatives.
ive just read that the malossi piston may be the answer??

The malossi piston is a viable alternative if yu've run out of overbores.
Just enlarge the boost port window and off you go after a rebore.
The Malossi comes in 4 grades, A trough D with a 0.05mm step per letter I think.

i think im in the clear with the extent of the damage, it looked worse than it is and i think i should be ok with an oversize but if not the malossi piston is the answer.
thanks chaps

Bearing in mind that Polini have relaunched the Polini 208 iron barrel as a 210 ali barrel (see
http://scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17110), I wonder if the piston from the 210 maybe suitable as an oversize for the iron barrel. Perhaps you are beyond this point already.
I also understand that the Malossi piston is a good performer in the Polini barrell, as there are two rings, the windows are a good size and they have a proven track record for reliability. However, there are no oversizes.

polini 207 has had a 2 ring piston for a few years now martin, dykes top ring, still cast iron rings, but two ringer all the same. ive ran a cast iron 2 ring polini, and it was a good kit, and is now on my brother in laws scooter.

The malossi pistons come in four grades, ranging from A to D, with the A being the smallest piston and the D being the biggest.
The increment between these psitons is 0.05mm a step, so there's a little bit of 'oversize' for honing yuor barrel os for long term wear.
And after those are all gone, there's always the Pinasco piston left, which I believe is a little bigger still...
