Do a dry build first they said. Did I listen?

Just offered up my new rear hub to the casing, but it won't fit over the brake pads. Looks like they're too fat. Have measured the rear hub circumfirence and compared it to the original hub -both 15cm across.

So, what's the process for shaving the pads down to fit?

I had the same problem and just used a flat file as neat as possible.

Hi I trust you have the right combination of brake cam and brake shoe?
Gp brake cams are thinner and need a brake shoe with a deeper part that sits against the cam.
Li,Sx,TV brake cams are thicker and need a brake shoe with a thinner part that sits against the cam.
I know this all sounds like gobledy gook but its the best way I can explain it.
If you have the thicker Li,SX,Tv cam and the deeper shoe then it aint going on and you need to change one or the other

Thanks heaps for the replies guys.

For the record, the items are Casa stock. The rear hub is stamped Innocenti and FIF, and I'm led to believe these are GP type. The shoes are unmarked, but I assume there also GP type.

As for filing the shoes, I thought this was a precision job to ensure and even contact surface,

i use a long piece of emery and just wrap it round the shoe and pull it up and down this keeps the shoe circular
