Hi,
Refurbishing a pair of series 1 forks, the ones with the metal top hat. Question is, the original Innocenti parts guide shows a part # 64 (bush for guide ring). My forks, and 2 other spares that I've checked only have the top hats, and the springs fit snugly into those, but no bush.
Am I missing a part? Where does this bush go, or is it already squeezed inside the top hat somehow.
This anomaly is leading me to an existential crisis.
merci,
L

I recently stripped my early series 3 forks, and had the metal top hats with bushes inside.
the bush basically sits on the purtruding end of the fork rod where the spring finishes, then the top hat sits on top of the bush
Once the springs are compressed when refitting, the bush is squeezed into the top hat.
When assembling it didnt feel right, a bit like the bush was unneccessary, but once the rods/springs are fitted back in the forks they sat evenly.
I refitted them exactly how they looked when they came out.
