Has anyone got experience of using these tyres on the ROAD as opposed to the track please?

I am looking to fit some good wet weather (3.50x10) tyres to my scoot for the winter and have heard very good reports on the 'Wet Race Compound' version but less so on the 'Road Compound' type.

Also do the Sava's have stiff/reinforced sidewalls? It lists them as tubeless so I'm assuming they do.

Was looking at the Shwalbe Weathermans but have been put by the recent reports of the tread peeling off the carcass of various Shwalbe tyres, and no detailed explanation has yet been given as to why this has happened.

i borrowed one of these on the LCGB C2C when my hub sheered at thirsk (thanks to DSC Scotty) so used it on greasy and dry roads that day and the next to get home - i`ve never used them before (had an S1 on the front) and was very happy with it.

I will be buying a set next time round

There have been a few tyres returned to MB recently, they all go off to Germany for inspection.
There were a couple of weatherman that had the tread peeling off, that was put down to the the rubber not curing properly.
Returned tyres were replaced.

It's less than 0.5% of sales so it's not the big story some would have you believe.

We've just had a prototype dual compound weatherman returned by someone who has been testing it over the summer, he did 8000 miles on it in all weathers. Didn't want to send it back!

And IMO schwalbe tyres are the best on the market at this minute in time, not because im up MBs arse or want some freebees but because im running them at this minute in time and im confident enough to sling me scoot into corners and not back off...

I havn't tried the Monsum on the road.... but for sure on the track they are the choice of pretty much the whole grid.

i would imagine they may wear relatively quickly, but the grip being so good would more than make up for it I would imagine.

Last month at Cadwell we had a very wet race..... on a track that had petrol and oil spilled on it. Obviously the tyres are pushed very hard in a race environment, but what little slipping there is happens in a consistent way so relatively easy to deal with. You can see how wet from the picture!


i always remember my first wet race after i started back racing.... I thought I was going quite well on the tyres, then the Conneelly brothers came flying by me both with their knees down in rain on these tyres!

The one thing you can be sure of is good grip..... but the small price to pay could be longevity of the tyre.

What are they like in the dry Paul, is it just a wear issue? I can't be arsed with all that wet/dry tyre changing you guys do

Is the speed /load rating of the Sava as good as the Swalbes? That was one of the main factors that persuaded me to use Swalbe, apart from the grip, it's good to know that the tyre is ALWAYS operating well within its limits (one less reason for a blow out).

THE STANDARD SAVAS FITTED TO SOME GT/GTS WERE OF A POOR COMPOUND SO WERE NOT GREAT FOR ENTHUSIASTIC RIDING I HAD SOME ON A 250 AND THEY WERE FINE IF RIDING NORMALLY I THEN FITTED SHALBEIES AND NEVER NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE (SO IN MY OPINION THEY WERE RUBBISH) I USE PERELLIS NOW AND THERE SPOT ON
