I have a TS1 engine, that’s been sitting on the floor of my workshop, at some point the engine has been rolled over on its side....I’ve just got around to picking it up and noticed that oil has been leaking from the gear arm....is this normal to lose oil from here if the engine is upside down or on its side, or does it indicate that there is a seal that needs replacing?
Cheers

I know it’s not normal, bloody O ring needs replacing ......ARSE!
What would happen if somebody was to leave it and not bother ripping out the gear box just to replace a silly little O ring?....only leaks when its upside down lol.

There is an o-ring seal under the gear arm and the gear shaft passes through a bush that could be worn.
However the seal is there to stop oil that is splashing around in the gearbox from escaping. It's not normally subjected to being 'submerged' in oil.

I agree, no need to change anything.

I replaced the bush on one as it leaked in use and the oil found it's way into the brake drum. Oil n brakes don't mix well, good job I had a front outboard disc.
