Not meaning to highjack but just seen gearbox thread on wanted and Dan left this:
VJ is no good for racing. Loose gear isnt far off, but cluster is all wrong and screws the ratios:
VJ:
10/50
13/41
17/37
21/33
Li150:
11/50
14/41
17/37
20/34
Could you use the gearbox (vijay) in a TS1 roadgoing? with it been close to it, just that i have one in a 150 block which will be used at some point in cutdown project this year, and thinking forward my 200 box im running now could be used in 150 block with something like 190 kit.

Economists are fans of VJ mk2 boxes, i suppose because they are cheap....but im a fan of GP200 or Li150.
You can use whatever you want...but if you get it all built up, and either it dont pull 4th or the 3rd / 4th gap is intollerable....wouldnt you rather have sold your VJ for £20 and spent £70 on the right box in the first place, rather than find its rubbish and have to strip/build it all again??

Yeah, but even then...its like saying..."how far do i have to go to get this s**t gearbox to work".Lam46 wrote:never mind..it would have to be a really torque small block kit then to get to 4th
Even in a motor with torque, a decent gearbox is still a better option.
You cant polish a turd.

I have several sitting on a shelf.......along with GP150 cranks, bearings, seals, chains, bottom chain guides and other items of dubious quality that wouldnt stand RB type power.
