I replaced all parts involved, shaft, piston, reference pin, springs and bushes. Now it dosen't engage until well down into the stroke. Before I messed with everything it was ok
Any ideas?

Splines on new shaft orientated differently to old shaft? Move kickstart pedal by one/two splines on shaft?

Hi Frank,
The kick-start plunger is deployed by a cam. This cam is sometimes built into the side casing, and sometimes built into the end of the gearbox end-plate (GP).
I know you have a GP, but is it using the GP end-plate with the cam built into the gearbox end-plate?

The conversion back to pre-GP is quite easy, and it immediately offers an opportunity to adjust the point of deployment for the plunger.
Persoanally I don't use the GP style end-plate for this very reason.
Whilst some consider the GP to be the pinacle of development of the Lambretta slimline model, in fact it was full of short term fixes to reduce manufacturing costs. The gearbox end-plate is an example of this, as are the push-in rebound rubbers in the forks, the headlight secured by two screws (rather than 4) etc etc.

Yeah, convert to the older Style in the long run but try the kickstart on diffrent splines to cure for now. The Li/SX style with ramp can be set(with a little fettling) to give a really long Kickstart stroke which generally proves plenty for even the most stubborn scoots!!!
