While I wait for the MBD Speedo, I'm trying to get the standard speedo to work.

Everything is turning ok. The cable turns in the drive in the hub, the dial turns in the speedo, but when I connect them up, speedo no workie.

I've tried snipping a bit off the outer, but that's not helped. Any ideas grateful (exccept from Red)

I had the same problem with mine.

It seemed to me that when you bend the speedo cable to fit into the hub it shortens the inner cable so the inner cable disengages with the hub drive.

I found that the inner would tend to push up towards the speedo unit by 3-4mm which wasn't helping.

So i found a small spring to fit inside the the outer cable and go over the inner cable. this spring sits on the shoulder of the speedo inner at the speedo unit end. when you connect to the speedo housing the spring helps to keep the speedo inner pushed down.

With the speedo inner pushed down it was enough to stop the inner dropping out of the worm drive. don't make the spring too tight or it will hinder the free movement of the speedo cable.

You could use some small spacers if you don't have any springs.

Had a similar problem with my speedo, it was registering the miles covered but no speed, had it apart and the pin that attched the needle to the main drive had snapped. Swapped 1 out of an old speedo, sorted.

Fit it all as normal at the top and put an electric drill on the bottom run the drill in reverse and see if the speedo works, My cordless drill gets to about 60 mph. At least you can see if its the speedo or the worm drive end thats playing up and yes you may have to remove 1/2 inch of outer to get it to locate at the bottom

It's a Lammie, just tuck in behind a Vespa at speed cameras...

Found the problem. It's the same as vicvega's. Mileage is recording, but not speed.

I've never heard of a working lammy speedo so why should you be different

Why do you think I'm using a Vapor speedo.

One day I may surprise/shock/astound you and suggest something sensible,but then again I very much doubt it

My speedo works................just looks like a rev counter when you get over 10mph....
