I have about 6 6v points systems and a Varitronic, so what I want to ask is what is the difference between a standard 6v points flywheel and a 12v electronic flywheel ( as i have never seen one in real life).

The boss in the middle of a points flywheel has a cam which operates the points. An electronic flywheel does not have the cam.

The electronic flywheel as a two slightly modified (over-lapping) magnets which trigger the sensor (which acts like the points) on the electronic stator.

If you haven't seen an electronic flywheel for a Lambretta, you may have seen these modified magnets on Vespa electronic flywheels.
