Why exactly are these boxes so bad, is it the ratios or manufacturing or just not strong enough for medium tuned and above engines

i thought the mk1 box was the bad en.. big jump between 3 and 4th

the MK1 IS better than the MK2....in that the gap between 3/4 is better,but the gap between 2/3 is not so good...
but when alls said and done niether are very good boxes to use in practice compared to what you could have....
