Lince inside an LD

Hi!

Trying to help a mate with his last project.

Here we have an LD body with a lince engine inside:

He needed to cut an original Lince shock absorber in order to get a smaller distance between the engine and the body shafts.
Now he needs to find a shorter shock absorber as the one of the picture is not working properly. He needs a 27cm distance between shafts. Any idea where can he get it? Does someone know an engineer that could do this job? Thankx.

that shock angle looks to severe and a shorter on will make it worse ,both risk snapping the top eye off as they will be loaded sideways and not up and down the shock needs to be as vertical as poss
theres plenty of shorter shocks on ebay try pit/monkey bikes these will need rebushing though!
make sure the outside diameter of the eyelets is as big as poss or u risk snapping them

Thanks for the advices Shocky, I know that the angle looks to severe but there were no other ideas when he built the scooter.

Engine mounts is in its place.

As shocky says, a shorter shock will not really help, the geometry is wrong.
I'd be tempted to look at fabricating a new beefy top shock mount, located further back, possibly fixed to the underside of the frame loop in a position that allows the shock to sit more vertically.

The best idea for sure, but my friend will try with a shorter shock absorber first and then decide what to do. He is thinking to buy this one if the measures are correct ( waiting for the sellers reply):

By the way soullad is correct, the shock will be obsolete in that position.

I'd agree too, the shock needs to be in line with the arc that the engine swings through. As it is, the shcok will bend under compression and will eventually snap

the holes for the shock mountings on the engine are 16mm so the bottom one would need drilling out and i recone it will be to thin round the edges .i used the same shock on the rear of my dragster
