i run a vespa conversion on my ts1 engine and was just looking at the flywheel... can anyone tell me where the mark to line up with the magic eye is in relation to the trigger 's' magnet inside the flywheel... does it line up with the centre of the 's' ??

I used to do this conversion years ago and the only way I set them up was with a strobe after I had marked TDC and the firing point so didn't bother with a window to see the pick up.

ive done a few too, you can set it up approximately them fine tune it, easy to do just remember that the trigger fires just as it leaves the pick up, so you will know just where the keyway should be in relation to the flywheel
first one i did was about 120 degrees out  but as it used a pk stator i just turned it till it fired and went from there
mark mag where pick up is and then mark fly where the trigger ends, turn boss to suit at tdc, then advance till it pinks and then back off a couple of degrees
another thing to check is trigger/pickup allignment
also better to tap the boss and use some countersunk screws with some locktite

i've been running this for about 12 years now without a problem and i've been lining it up with the magic eye with a line i thought had been stamped into the flywheel but wasnt so thought i'd check....
i have a af rayspeed lightened flywheel here and the mark for checking against the magic eye is just off centre of the 's' trigger within... just wondered if anyone knew where the trigger point is... left , centre or right of 's' ??
