The good news is Frank, that over here, you can build your own front brake in your shed, and no one tells you that you can't use it. No type approval for us (yet). Try that in Germany or Austria and see how far you get.

Is there not liability issues then?

If you cobble together a brake at home, fit it and have your MOT guy say that it's fine, then have an accident on the way home and the cause is traced back to the brake because it wasn't made and tested to a 'standard', what happens then?
insurance out the window? you could spend years paying compensation..

red ghost, you are correct in what you are saying but its just not as well regulated over here but now and then we get caught out.

my insurance does not want to pay out as i had a bad crash as a result of a scoot rs wheel rim failure. as they see it as a diy modification then they expect it to be notified and listed on the policy as a modification and paid for as an additional risk where as we generally don't usually give it a second thought over here.

TR Youngs wouldn't insure one of my scoots because it's got an RB20 kit on it. How many just put 200cc on the proposal form and don't mention that it's modified. I also told them about having disc brakes fitted to the front as modifications, so far they haven't quibbled about that.

None. We pays our money and takes the risk, as with most other things in this country

tr young s got my dactec insured and it states all the modificatoins from std inc tubeless front hub/wheel and 42bhp motor so cant und.erstand bout your rb mate.
always keep you insurance notified on any change from stock then you are covered
