Fecked TS1: steel liner or re-nicasil

Usual story of crass stupidity - open mouth carb, crap gets sucked in, barrel worn out. Yes, I will run with a filter in future. But my main question is: do I re-nicasil or steel line? And who do I go to for either?
Many thanks...

crass stupidity
I wouldn't say that Nic. I think your being a bit too hard on yourself there.
Doesn't the liner route mean a lot longer running in time? Or am I off the mark?

Thanks for that Mike, why re-nicasil and not this:

I'm genuinely interested to know as I don't knmow enough to weigh up the benefits/downside of each. The site above says there's no problem with heat if you re-sleeve. They also re-nicasil as well.

You're right there. Good point.

dear capitalist scribe...
obviously being the font of all technical knowledge i understand why you came to me first :smug:
is the barrel pitted badly or scored , is the liner cracked or the spigot damaged ?
if not then have it re nicasiled at langcourt in gimme 6 zummerset.
If it is it may well pay to have it steel linered and whilst those chaps undoubtedly do a good job you will have to have the ports cut and matched and my advice is to send it to MB because they can also supply the correct piston.
here , as always to help
p.s. if any of this info is incorrect or complete tosh blame chris sturgess cos i plagerised it off him.
You owe me a cocktail on the island and despite your best protestations i'm almost certain they dont do them in the Lud

What are you on about: Bacardi & Babycham ("the genuine champagne perry") with a cherry and a little umbrella, the Lud'll do you one if I ask nicely....

- two of them and you'll be offering your body to all-comers on the Green....

That's very decent of you as I intend to come in on my S3 Li125, covered in luvverly remade Vietnamese and Thai tat including mirrors with pictures of The Who in place of the glass, non-working bullet lights and orange reflectors from Halfords, wearing a parka with a large brand new RAF roundel on the back, bowling shoes and a sweet little pork pie hat. Dressed as usual, in other words.
Oh, and did I tell you I'm the cocktail umbrella supplier for the south-east of England and I've just delivered 300 of them to the Lud?

I usually look at something like this as an opportunity for more porting and then a nice fresh ceramic plating. MB does very good work here, probably the best around. Same with iron (steel) liners. Someday I'll run my 3 boost port stage 4 MB tuned TS1. Now that will be old school.
In the USA, scooterists have been using steel liners to extend the life of Vespa P200 cylinders that LA Sleeve has a Vespa liner in their catalog.
Nic, you have several good options, as well as just buying a new TS1 cylinder and piston or building an RB, RT, or something else.
