A Flywheel, a puller and an annoyed person

Stripping my old Muggy 225 and tried to fit the flywheel puller and it wouldn't go. I'm sure I've f@@ked the start of the thread. I bought another puller to make sure.
So now I know it's not the puller, how can I get my flywheel (varitronic) off?

now that you have two pullers, cut a slot or two straight through the threads to make it look like a tap try screwing it in,should cut its own thread to a damaged flywheel !

Spot on Cezeta. A three legged puller would work - I have done it myself. Not that they were built for that, I seem to recall getting a clutch out of a moped some years ago, and that was the tool required.

Just looked up a 3 legged puller, but I'm not sure I can get it to grab hold.

I have used a three legged puller but had to grind it a bit to get it to fit, get it tensioned up and give the centre part a sharp crack with a hammer and it should pop off quite easily.

What I have done in the past is to use a really sharp screwdriver to gouge the damaged thread out enough to get the puller started. The trouble with the Varitronic is there isn't a dust cap to keep all the crap out the threads so I spray mine with aerosol anti sieze to stop rust etc.

Is it possible to drill out the rivets holding the flywheel fan to the boss? Once the fan is off the 3 legged puller should work.
