In the end decided to replace the whole front tube.Had an LI one with no crossmember or front stays so used that, fitted our own front stays and new indian strenghtened one for stand. Set the old frame up in our jig using the front steering tube ,aligned the rear sect to be central and SQ to the steering tube then welded it in place. Removed the old front sect then trimmed the replacement to fit .V prepped the ends of the frame tubes fitted a backing ring then welded in place. after finished had frame dipped and dipped in rust preventetive job done.
