Help needed bleeding front brake Please

Hi all, i'm about to bleed my front brake and i'm looking for some pointers. Do i leave the cover on the master cylinder or do it with it off? Small Yamaha master and Nissan caliper. Any help greatly appreciated. Pete

I took my top off when i did mine might not be correct way but it worked.

I leave my top on, as i dont want to splash brake fluid on my chest

Ok, when i pump the lever i get fluid squirting out of the bleed nipple, so the system is primed and when i attach the bleeder there does'nt appear to be any air in the system but the brake still won't work. Any suggestions please Fellas. Pete

Are you tightening the nipple again after each operation of the brake. Also is the piston stuck mine was, had to strip brake think it had stuck during time on the shelf.

Good point leigh, it's been sat around for 3 years so i think i'll strip the caliper and see if thats the problem. If they are seized how do i go about freeing them up? Cheers

I've been thinking about this and if the pistons were seized would'nt the lever go stiff? It's still soft to pull in so i think the problem is elsewhere. HELP.

Have my own compressor so just kept turning the pressure up till it popped out, take it to a garage they could get it out using airline. With everything tight take the top of the master cylinder and operate lever if u see bubbles its sucking air in somewhere, could be the seals in the in the master have gone.
