Iv come to the stage of my rebuild that i need to think about what i want to get chromed. I was thinking of getting the forks, tool box, tank & mudguard done and contacted London Chroming company who quoted £160 for the forks and £130 for the tank. I didnt really know what to expect price wise but I thought it was a bit lumpy?
With this in mind i was wondering:
Is this the correct sort of price?
Would i be better off to buy the custom parts from someone like Scoots RS or is the standard crap as they seem well cheap?
Can anyone reccomend a good/cheap chromer in the southeast (essex)

Cheeers lads, looks as they know what there doing re scooters. Thing is they are selling the forks already chromed for £188 and i was quoted £160 to have my own ones chromed by London chroming so im hoping there price to do mine will be a lot cheaper.
Did that make sense, probably not.

I know what you mean -to get yours chromed rather than to buy the part outright!
Ive had a few things done there and they certainly know what they are doing- ScootRs Chrome is not show quality standard and has a look of polished stainless steel but is ok.

You wont get better quality chrome work than London Chroming, but they are expensive. Judging by your quote though, it seems like the prices have come down.
I had forks, fork links, back brake pedal and a few other small parts and it came to £400.00. That was 18 months ago.
Reccession kicking in for them too I expect.

Nastro,
blimey that is lumpy. Well just had the quote back grom the Hull company and they will charge £80 for the forks plus another £30 for the links. Thats half the price of London Chrome, Im presuming the London Chrome co didnt include the links either in there price of £160?
Just need to find out the cost of postage, which im waiting on them to give to me. I will post all the costs on here so people can reffrence it later if they want. But all things being equal it to Hull and back for me......

London Chroming have a well deserved reputation for excellence. However, I can't help thinking that they do rather exploit that reputation when it comes to pricing.

If your in the South (they do a postal service too)
try these:

By and far the best Chromers I have found in 30 years...they do RAF quality chroming and specialise in vintage parts....not cheap though, but they have 'reclaimed' bits other companies wrote off as past it
