Thanks Rog. Had to check as i thought I was doing something wrong. Lock doesn't fit because the pin in the spring won't depress right down. I know the steering lock is worthless, but I'd like something to go right for a change.

check you're not trying to depress spring and plunger when handlebars are in locked position, i.e. turn them to right/left to clear the tab that the plunger rests against in the locked position....

I bought an aftermarket lock and the pin was too fat to go through the hole in the headset. I had to take it all apart and file it until it dropped all of the way in.
