I've had my main oil seal changed as it started smoking --i know it will smoke for a little time after been fixed as the exhaust must have a bit of oil in it still but i've done around 80 miles and it still smoking - it seems to clear up a bit then when idling its smoking -like it did before--
how long it take to clear up ??
oil seal advise

it shouldn't be smoking following an oil seal change.
Are you sure its not just too much oil in the mix?
Is the smoke white and does it smell bad?

A blown (or damaged) main oil seal will allow the crankcase oil to burn- it will produce a white smoke and smell horrendous
What you're experiencing could just be the natural product of normal 2T combustion
Why did you have the main seal changed initially? Was it burning crankcase oil?
A new seal could have been damaged on reassembly.
You can test a seal by allowing the engine to idle (when fully warm) and then blocking the exhaust with a rag- the engine should stop fairly quickly- if it continues to run then you have a leak somewhere.
