I folks, I need some advice on the carb choice with this set-up:

standard serveta ('74) engine
Sil Stage IV 200cc slightly enlarged and adjusted transfers
variotronic
JL2

Would a jetex 22 suit?

I'm a bit scared it might seize with that carb.

thanks for your help.

I,d go for a 28mm Delly if i were you, their cheap enough, nearly every scooter shop sells jets and needles for them, and their around in such large numbers that you,ll proberbly get help with your jetting.

24mm Mikuni? I'm running one with an Indian stage 4 and an ancilotti clubman. You can get a carb 'kit' from Mark at Jet200 with everything needed 'in the box'.

thanks adriang, your setup is similar to mine. I'm just afraid the carb would be to small with that JL2 exhaust..

JL2 is a high revving exhaust, 22mm won't get the best out of it but I don't see it as a problem. High revs = more fuel = big carb.
It's a mis-match so change to a bigger carb or change to a clubman.

If you think about it, it will seize if its not getting enough fuel at a certain throttle position.
Well for a start when i was running a 22 jetex with an expansion i was told by a very reputable scooter shop to drill the atomiser out to a certain mm. I cant remember the exact size but i think there maybe info on that on the LCGB site?
The reason for this is that the jetex atomiser can sometimes cause starvation.
Whatever carb you choose your going to have to have it set up properly so the answer is not just to stick a 28mm or 30 mm on because if its jetted incorrectly it will definitely seize or hole a piston.
My advice would be to get a delly PHBH as these are very very adjustable throughout the throttle range and get it dynoed or set up by someone if your not confident of setting yourself.
It will give you more top end and is a far better carb than a jetex but make sure its set correctly because if you dont you will have the same problem that your trying to avoid.
Thats my very humle opinion!

This does makes sense and i'll try to set it up to make it go smoothly.
To conclude this topic, i'll put in my setup tests with the carb

thank you all for the helpful replies.
