Hi, i've got a tuned TS1 225 / tmx35 /jolly moto pipe/ 17x46 pacemaker gearbox / v-force reeds and SIL stator with ducati cdi.
My engine revs to 9500-10000, with peaking power at about 8000-8500 what version of agusto is for me? 8000?
I'll use the Lambretta not only on motorways, but also for fun in town or on climby roads.
Thanks
Which versin of Agusto?
Why don't you get a Chiselspeed Mtech advance retard box, this encapsulates all three Agosto boxes and a bit more besides(16 curves) ,so as you can set it for whichever engine you have and no guessing as to which box to buy only to find that your engine didn't like the one you bought!

I don't understand why they fit only the 6000 version if my engine pulls till 9000 rpm.
It's because they tend to have a fresh engine after that rpm?
Will i have problems in the 6000-9000 rpm range, beacuse of the too much retarded ignition?

The retarding begins at 6,000 RPM which is pretty sensible for a road engine. Unless you are at WOT and top revs all time as you would on a race track then the 6,000 Agusto would be better as you would get the retarding effect at 6k and above which is where a lot of tuned road going Lambrettas spend much of their time. Race engines don't spend much time at 6k as they rev through but on a road bike you may spend a fair amount of time at 6-7000 RPM. Think about traffiic, congested motorways, speed limits, etc. With your gearing, "cruising" at 60-63 mph would put your revs at about 6500 I think. You'd get zero retard with a Agusto 7000 or 8000 and you'd be at 22 or 23 degrees BTDC with retard not beginning until 7000 RPM / 72 - 75 mph (Agusto 7000) or 8000 RPM / 82 - 85 mph (Agusto 8000).

As i understood it, the 6k, 7k, & 8k numbers denoted the RPM that the timing was fully retarded by....not starting at?
Imagine, in 4th gear on the road.......how many scooters actually hit much beyond 8000rpm........??? So if it didnt start retarding by then, that would mean scooters are riding round at 24+/- degrees for the rev range of 0rpm-6k, 7k, & 8krpm respectivly??? Surely not???
I'm more inclined to believe the numbers mean that the igntion retards back from its highest number (22/23/24 degress etc) to its lowest number 15/16/17 degress etc) in a linear fashion between the rev ranges of 0-6k, 0-7k, & 0-8k etc....
Yes?

I'm probably wrong and you're probably right there, but what I understand is that 6,000 is fine for TS1 on Li 150 16 x 47 (my gearing, too) and that there is not enough retard where you do a lot of road riding with the higher RPM Agustos.
Haven't bought mine yet but maybe soon.

DM is right i believe, have a 6000 on my RB, watch the timing with a strobe and the line starts swinging back straight away.
When i ordered it from JB someone there told me its done all its retarding by the time it hits 6k on the revs.

Leigh, do you reckon it was the right choice (the 6000) and worth putting on your RB? Thinking about the same myself..leigh wrote:DM is right i believe, have a 6000 on my RB, watch the timing with a strobe and the line starts swinging back straight away.
