1000 mind numbingly boring miles
Recently ran a rapido top end in 200 miles at 30, 200 miles at 40 and 600 at no more than 50.
I bought a forerunner gps unit to keep a very accurate eye on speed and miles completed.
On the advice of a mate I mapped out a route of 5 miles round town and did this at least once a night for the first 400 miles to give a variety of speeds and revs.
Oh and ran at 4% semi synthetic.
That's how I do it ..there will other methods crop up

Eden's right get the tolerances checked and it'll be fine give it a good caning!!!
My sorted stage 4 had 150 miles running in then caned everywhere , on good oil , sitting in me garage and not a mark on the bore or piston .

Some will say use mineral oil aswell as its abrasive or something and good for running in,ignore that.I did like the others her and got the kit done with proper tolerences as did a few hundred miles around country lanes giving it some beans but not too long in each gear and never an issue. That was on cast iron aswell.
.....i'd say drive on and off fast and slow....and as much as possible......the only thing thats gonna kill it is full throttle/full load for a long time......stay off full throttle for long periods and you should be ok ,even long distance.....put choke on down hill when coasting to cool piston.....blah blah.....enjoy.....
