I've taken delivery of a new V4 Mugello, looks a nice piece of kit. One little problem I have found is in the photos below. The lining protrudes about 0.0015" but only in one area. Any ideas on how remedy this and not mess up the lining?
I'm leaning towards 'lapping' the surface, but just want opinions.
cheers
How come phonetics isn't spelt with an 'f'?
Check out my boobs! <-- <--Just imagine being burried between those puppies!
I'm not sure what would be the best method to sort it out - lapping sounds a reasonable idea.
Any chance of a port map whilst you've got the barrel off ?
I would go for the glass and grinding paste idea first, as it is very low impact solution and you are unlikely to do any damage if it didn't work. However, I would think that it would not be difficult to do in a lathe. I guess if the lathe was running backwards and the cutting tool was cutting on the far side of centre, then the cutting tool would bite into the nicasil first, and therefore avoid chipping.
Even if it did chip, it would be a couple of millemetres from where the ring touch the liner at TDC.
I've never machined nicasil, so I just suggest the above to set a few hares running (Austrailia does not have any hares, but you get the idea Frank).
