Unable to Centralize Front Wheel

Had a mate round this afternoon trying to figure out why we can't centralize the wheel.

We even have a double nut on the right side (as you look at the picture) and it's still no way near enough. We're already pulling at the links.

What's wrong here?

You need to remove half the difference between the right and left distances from the left hand side and add it to the right hand side. Don't just add spacers to one side without removing from the other and don't pull at the fork links, if there's a gap then fill it not close it.

Right and left looking at the picture ;-)

The problem I think we have is that the only thing that can come off the left, is the wee thin nut that holds the plate to the speedo housing.

It seems like there's no way of getting it central at all. :?

it could be an optical illusion but on the pic it really looks like the offside fork leg is twisted/splayed out....

Can you show a pic with that nut removed? Should it have that nut on? Is there a recess underneath where a disc hub spindle would fit? Failing that, I may have a ScootRS replacement plate that doesn't use the half nut but you'll need a new disc type spindle aswell.

I'll try again tomorrow.

The nut should be there.

This is a f@@king disaster. All this f@@king about is wrecking the paint on the hub/rims/forks :(

I'll check my spare plate tomorrow. Don't panic, it's fixable ;-)

I hope so. I often panic. Really badly too.
