You'll probably need to buy a new cable from Gagg & Sons as the genuine Smiths speedos take a different size (much larger) cable and assuming the Indian copies are designed so suit the cable on British bikes. If you tell Gagg's it's a Smiths speedo cable for a Lambretta, they should be able to help you, they're about £16.

Is it a magnetic or chronometric copy you have?

Hi Steve, That's a magnetic one.
Yes, Gagg's are in Nottingham, but I may stand to be corrected on the cable as someone on the other side seems to think the cable is the same but the nut is different, I'm sure mine wasn't on my Smiths Chronometric :-?, you can check that yourself with a Lambretta inner. I have a nut from Allstyles but I'm buggered if it'll fit my chronometric, it's just sitting on my shelf, if you want to try it let me know.
