Indian Gear Selector..

Hello peeps,
Rebuilding a 125 S1 engine for a mate. Decided to replace the gear slector and a question arises..
After putting together the gearbox, I test all the gears, the float of the shim, etc. test the spider, place the rear hub, everything seems perfect. I test the hub on neutral and I hear this scratching sound. The hub turns free but it is like the scates on the wishbone are constantly scratching/scuffing the channel on the new gear slector. Should I worry about this issue?
Regards,
J.

I assume there is no oil in the crankcase Jaime?
If so I would expect there to be some noise- with the crankcase cover on, and filled with the correct amount of oil, then it should be OK................IMO!

Hmmmm yes Chris, the crankcase is dry as a bone. No oil whatsoever. Its just weird, I have never hear this sound before. Everything looks as it should tho, no secrets inside of the gearbox I don't think, since I have not disansembled the wishbone. It is just as I left it.
I will wait until it has oil running inside then... Regards!

You could always squirt some oil in there, anything would do, even WD40 just to see if the noise goes away.

could be the edges of the brake shoes just catching on the hub?

I have just fitted one to a S1 motor. Yes, on the one I have just fitted, one pad(upper) on the wishbone is rubbing on the selector in one spot, even with endplate fitted. I just took a little off the wishbone pad. Job done. I could see where it wasn't machined correctly. No surprises there.

Its the defo the pads then... I tried without the hub and the noise prevails... No worries.
