there seems to be a massive amount of regulators from bgm and good italian names to cheap indian ones - at the indian end they seem to offer 90watts - doesnt anyone have one? does it do what it says on the tin. And do they work with oldish stators?

the number in watts is the amount it can dissipate not its output firedkp will be along soon to explain

is there any issue though with putting a 90w reg with an old stator and cdi? Also is there an difference between indian ones which are 15 quid and italian ones at double?

One is reliable and one is, let's say, unreliable. I've seen Ducati ones for sale at prices that make me smell a rat though.

Buy a genuine Ducati from a trusted supplier, there are fakes. Expect tp pay £25-£30. Or do the full DC conversion where the regulator is around £25.

Completely agree, it's the way to go Drew, I have one of the Wasser 120 watt DC rectifier/regulators on my LiS running with a BGM and the Jet I've just completed has one but using a bog standard Indian stator. Both have a battery fitted (Maplin sealed lead acid type) inside the tool box. The conversion is very easy, all you need apart from the above is a 12 volt DC horn and a few simple additions to your wiring. No more flickering lights whioch go out the moment your engine conks on a dark country road

Thanks Guys, just went for the Ducati basic. I have a junction box but no description of where the yellow from reg "G" goes, it was in there but no colour coding to yellow. What should it go next to for anyone with round junction boxes?
