Hi, I noticed the other thread re Micks work but didn't want to hi-jack it.

I bought a cheap Indian ally 225 kit off ebay and gave it to Mick to play with. I wanted something with reasonable torque but still able to do rev a bit.

Really nice work, I gave hime the inlet amnd the exhaust stub which he also re-worked and flowed. The inlet port and manifold have been packed and completely reworked wto give a straighter flow into the cylinder.






Case opened up by me to match transfers

Despite having some fairly extreme port timings the result is a very pleasant ride using moderate revs and a LOT of fun if you use the gear box.

Mick is a thoroughly nice guy to chat to as well

120 transfers, 175 inlet and 182 exhaust.

I've a way to go sorting the top end jetting but it's got a very pronounced powerband as those timings might suggest but it is very docile and rideable at lower speeds with useful torque in the mid range.

I'm a long way from Harrogate but if I get a chance after the Euro I might whip it up to Scootererotica and see wht it does on the dyno

hi coaster i have also bought one of these kits off e.bay how much did mick charge you to do the work an how can i get intouch with him also are you still using the same piston that came with it,plus what carb an exhaust you using i was going to use a 30mil delly with my jl3 plus a standard gear box 18/47 gp2 any advise or help with this would be great many thanks Darren

you can contact Mick directly on here by PM or call him on 07802 896103, he's a fantastic guy to deal with, he phoned me today to chat about my findings and mentioned that he was ready to do another, so get in there.

I didn't use my piston as the Kit was used and the piston had been trashed. I used an Asso piston fro AF Rayspeed. As for set up:
28 PHBH
JL3
Li 125S gears with 18 x 47 sprockets
Standard Indian electronic including large fin flywheel
Augusto 6000 ignition retarer unit.

out of interest how much was the piston as there site is way out of date last one cost me £90 but not from there

Steve, I'm not sure how much I paid, it was probably around £70, I can check next week when I'n in Norfolk next.

when we at SES tuned one of those barrels we got 83mph on a standing quarter at just over 15 seconds which at the time broke the street scooter track record at elvington. not bad for a hundred quid kit, we used a lintec piston as i recall , Pete Newbolds full bodied indian GP that was,, all metal, not lightened in any way.. he even rode that to IOW,,, dip your bread

Sounds like the way to go then,you got a semi decent piston in it and the cost of the whole thing works out cheaper than most off the shelf kits and should give the same performance and reliability.
