Did you check to see if there was any scoring or corrosion inside the bore? If the seals have reacted to the silcon fluid it wouldn't happed straight away, it would take weeks or months

I have no experience of scooter hydaulics but I've found synthetic fluid to be fine in my classic Marcos, I have replaced seals form time to time over a period of years but due to it no absorbing water like normal fluid I havn't had any corrosion problems. Plus it won't hurt your paint if it leaks.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who knows about scooter hydraulics ;)
