I'm going to pull off the barrel of my Rapido 225, more for an inspection, but I'll blend in the inlet and exhaust ports while the barrel is off.
Can anybody advise anything else I could do while it is apart?
Currently using a standard, AF 225 head, was wondering about taking .5 off that, but opening up ports or any other advise greatlfully received.
home tuning a rapido 225?
If they've not been done then you should chamfer the port edges in the barrel.
Classic or Race Rapido...?

Chris, pretty sure it's the race. Got it second hand, unused a few years ago.
Daz, got one of the v2 reed valve kits ready to put on. Toying with the idea of putting in this, which is the piston out of an unused RB225 kit.
It's been thermal coated, heat proof on the crown, slippy stuff on the sides. Guys who did it tunes Dragsters, and does the same treatment to his engines.

Had done by a place we've been using for coating exhausts and so on. They also do a knock off anodised finish which looks awesome on engine casings and hubs, and can coast plastic (Vespa head cowls).Dazza wrote:I like the idea of that piston, is it something you had done yourself? We get LCoA discount, so cost me $40, about 30 pounds to do the piston.
The Piston looks good and should suite the reed block well.
I'd speak to Mick Abbey tell him what you want form the kit and get him to blend it all for you with the possibility of some extra boost ports cut into liner and I'm sure you will not be disappointed with the results or the level of service.
