i've read that people take these out but then again they wouldn't be there for no reason.. :? :?

If you mean the atomiser (AV or AS type), then no as this works with the main jet which is screwed into the bolt which holds the float chamber (underneath).
NO IT'S NOT A F***IN* MOPED!!!!!!

thanks for the reply rog60

its not the atomiser mate, its the jet tube under the pilot jet

i contacted mb's and they said to just leave it in, mine's 62 emulsion tube... he did say you can leave them out aswell

They have these emulsion tubes in a few of the dellorto carbs behind the pilot jet, I think its to help fine tune progression from tick over to slide. Ive run with & without them and found very little difference.

its merely the fact that you posted a question relating to a 28mm phbh ,and obviously its not one....hence your dissapointment in replies ....you confused folk with your mis information.......thats all.

These 28mm dellorto carbs normally work well. Ive set up a few in the past, I like them!!! Very good responsive carb with good reliability once set, and fairly economical to run... 8-)
