Lynx flasher question

Rebuilt 12v Motoplat Electronic Lynx 200. Engine started second kick today but, as I suspected, getting all the lights working correctly will be more of a challenge

I haven't attacked the electrics with a Multimeter yet (if i can remember how to use it) but at the moment it has the original flasher unit fitted. If I find I need a new one, will the one below be OK?

I ask as the Motoplat system, allegedly, puts out 130w :shocking:

Your indicators are 18W each, I believe, so with two of them and the 3W tell-tale lamp then you would need a relay capable of handling 40W. Are there any letters next to the connections on your existing relay, such as B,P & L?

Yes, the bulbs should be 18w. At the moment I've got 21w in as the only other 12v ones of the right size I've been able to find are 10w.

The existing relay has no letters or marks of any kind next to the connection. On the outside it's stamped "12v 185w"

Do the indicators not flash alternately so you only have one on at any one time, or is that just a Vespa thing

Yours will flash together, Vespa AC ones use a more complicated switch to flash them alternately because there isn't enough power to have them on at the same time, but PXs with DC indicators flash 2 x 21W lamps at the same time, so one of these should suit yours.

Sorry, more questions

Having done a bit more research, the original 12v 185w 3 pin relays are unavailable but, as firekdp says, a DC Vespa one will work. They are a bit pricey though at £38.

The picture seems to show a 4 pin type. But if it is a 3 pin DC then it probably is OK, and at that money worth a try. If possible, ask them what the connections are marked as.

I have fully operating indicators now so I thought I'd try and fit a buzzer like they have on T5s. I can get the buzzer to work by fitting the red feed from the buzzer to the Grey on the indicator relay (the grey goes to the switch on the headset) and then earthing the black feed from the buzzer.

However, whilst the buzzer works fine with the indicators on, the buzzer is permanently on when the indicators are not working, I presume because all I'm doing then is eathing a live feed.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please

Connect it to the purple wire, which goes from the relay to the headset indicator warning lamp.
