Ok let me see if i understood correctly:
Black slot: Key switch black + Speedo bulb black + Loom black
Green slot: Key switch green + Loom green
Yellow slot: Pink from light switch + orange from Key switch (correct?)
Purple slot: ??
Brown slot: Brown Loom, Brown Key switch
White slot: ??
Key switch pink is earthed already at the headset ring. The horn is the splitted brown that you can see from the pic nr 2. and the white from the light switch should be the other one going to the horn...
BGM stator problems
"Connect the loom brown to key switch brown and the key switch blue"
connect where? in which slot?

There should be 3 brown slots, one for the loom , one for the switch browns and blue in the other slot. You need to make the blue "live" into the switch . If no spare slot you may have to piggy back the blue and brown switch wires.
wack 63 wrote:Your loom has 3 wires at the headset, these are brown(lighting power), green (ignition) and black( power feed to rear light) Connect the loom brown to key switch brown and the key switch blue.Key switch Yellow to yellow terminal gives sidelight bulb power. Key switch black to loom black and speedo black. Key switch orange to handlebar switch yellow or orange(or pink in your case?) Key switch pink to headset earth. Separate earth wire from bulb holder (other end of sidelight bulb yellow) Run extra wire down to horn from bulb holder browns. If none of this works the key switch may be faulty.
Is this one? http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... and-screw/

At the end of all this, if it turns out that your issues are not related to the BGM stator, you might want to highlight this as currently the title might be giving a very good (usually) product an unfair amount of bad press. The BGM stators were an absolute god send in a time that we were suffering so many Indian stator failures, which deserves our appreciation.

Hi Adam my issues weren't related to the bgm stator at all! But we already discovered that many "pages" ago... when we discovered (with Corrado if i recall correctly) that the problem was in the different pick up wire colours from stator plate to cdi, the indian pick up is yellow and not red like the european.
The REAL problem was the caotic electronic system that they built on my bike, there, in India. When i stripped the scooter i found out that the wiring loom was not the correct type, and to make it fit they literally made up connections that have nothing to do with any of the existing Lambretta diagrams . Letting alone the amount of un-earthed cables etc..
I'm trying to keep it under 3-4 main threads instead of opening a thread for any nut or bolt missing, sorry if i happen to end up slightly off topic sometimes.
I still run the bgm stator and the scooter starts at the first kick.
@wack 63: OK.

^... cool, I just didn't want people to think that the BGM stator was causing you problems.
Yes, welcome to the world of Indian restored Lambrettas. Whilst original SIL machines were not perfect, and there were many versions of their electrics, at least they tended to use coloured wiring looms. The last import GP (Indian but not restored by SIL) that I worked on here had no junction box in the headset, just a bulb holder and lots of snap together cheap couplings, and ALL of the wiring was black... and I mean ALL of it!
Good luck with getting it sorted, then you can enjoy it in the summer

Reminds me of when I was an apprentice, one of the other apprentices had an old Morris Oxford with dodgy wiring. He booked a reel of grey wire out of the stores and and rewired the whole car in grey!Adam_Winstone wrote:^... cool, I just didn't want people to think that the BGM stator was causing you problems.

Sorted out!
The key was to connect the blue with the 2 browns like wack said, i used the white triple slot on the left, also the earth cable going opposite to the yellow slot was a good tip since i had previously put it in the white slot instead.
There's some play in the switch though so themain bulb really works continuosly only if i keep the key pressed in a certain position.. im thinking of replacing the whole switch with a Casa switch that includes also the horn cables...anyone tryed it? by the way how do you remove the key switch? There's a locking ring?
