Okay, where did I get to?

...Well, I managed to pick up another Winter Model locally, from which I used the headlamp rim and top, with a view to sell it on...

...but as some of you have seen HERE all was not well with the frame...

...but Dean came to the rescue and did a superb repair...

and neatly reinforcing too...

Rather than sell this frame on as it may put some off, I decided to sell the previous frame and engine casing and to now use this as the basis of my Winter Model. I'm also using the legshields and horn casting too as that was mint. These parts are currently at the blasters and will then have the legshield repairs finished ready to dry build.

In the meantime, a job I was dreading, the headlamp has now been rebuilt. I had the retaining ring zinc plated and needed to seal the reflector and glass together and fit the ring which was a tight fit. So I put the reflector into the ring first and ran a bead of clear silicon all the way round to then force the glass in without disturbing the silicon too much and to create a watertight seal, I think I pulled it off...

Hey Presto! Job done :D ...

So that's pretty much it for now, more to follow soon hopefully...

How very dare you Eden! It's the original rim mentioned earlier, needed a but of work, but I'm more than pleased to get it looking like that :-D

Send me some pics of the rim Eden, mine wasn't pretty before, but my man did a good job, a real silk purse from a pig's ear ;-)

Frustratingly absolutely nothing has happened to the panelwork sitting at the bodyshop doing nothing for the last three months despite being told "next week" on numerous occasions. I may have to just cut my losses and move it on to somewhere else, I guess this is what happens when a favour is to be repaid :-?
Anyway, after the great job MB did on modifying an early Indian GP switch housing to fit the handlebar, welding on the master cylinder and matching the lever, I thought I'd dry build the headset just to feel like something was moving forward...
