can you put up a picture of these anthony tambs stator i keep hearing about thanks georges

Nearly there now, done the leak test and to my great relief it's absolutely air tight. Tried the reed block without any sealant (just paper gaskets) but had to re-fit with three-bond, after that all good.



Leak tester is a pump, gauge & tubing cut off an blood pressure cuff (eBay, £8-ish) connected with a windscreen washer T-piece from Halfords on to a bleed nipple (eBay £2-ish for two I think it was) and then on to a turned up piece of nylon rod fitted in to the inlet rubber. Old tire inner-tube clamped up on the exhaust side.

TDC, 24 and 16 degrees marked on the mag housing (set with dial gauge) and I think I'll mark 10 as well as I think that should give enough reference points.

Left to do is fit the stator & exhaust then get it in to the frame for the first start.

that porcupine head looks mean nice job it will sound great with that exhaust

Very pleased to say that today I was finally able to get everything wired up & go for the start & it fired up on the third kick. I'm relieved and pleased in equal measure. Top local Lambretta man James stars in the video, thanks for your help in getting those fiddly bits done & the loan of countless tools!

Still plenty of little bits left to do and most important is getting a long throttle cable to I can give it a test ride.

Reworked SIL stator from Athony Tambs. He says these put out around 80w, he's doing his own soon that put out 100w.


Kheper v3 with the DC regulator supplied with the stator & the bracket. I've drilled & tapped a couple of extra holes for the regulator:

What I need to do is fit a USB cable to the kheper as there's no way to get to the USB once it's fitted to the frame.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the first few miles on it soon, can't wait.

Been chasing a few electrical niggles now that the scooter is up & running. Even though the engine was running & rideable, it would not rev over 6,000RPM. Here's a video of the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwbJnSANu1g with the Kheper CDI app on a phone showing the revs.

Tried a cheap £15 Scootopia and it seemed to rev a bit higher but the problem was still there, so borrowed a stator from the ever-generous 'James from round the corner' and the problem was fixed.

Measuring the pickup height, the borrowed stator one was approximately 2mm lower than mine. On my stator the laminates had 'flared out' a bit (it's perhaps slightly visible on the stator picture above) and by removing the pickup and bending them back down the pickup height reduced by 1.3mm, which was enough to cure the problem. So after all that just a simple alignment issue, but needed that loan stator to put me on the right track. Cheers James, that's another favour I owe you for. I think longer term I'll try one of Anthony Tambs' external pickups as I think the laminates may spring back and cause the problem to return.

Whilst the scooter was rideable with this issue, now it's cured it's like the beast has been unleashed & it's amazing. Loads of torque from low revs, nice and smooth all the way through & just keeps going & going. My basic series 2 KPH speedo doesn't tell me much in the way of speed, the needle quickly disappears around the back of the clock, so something better is needed here.

I'll try and get something together to record a ride.
