Well, sort of sorted.
I used your wet and dry trick to clean the points, gapped them again and moved the stator back between where it was when I started and where it backfired.
What I noticed while I was doing the wet and dry trick was that the points were physicly opening @19 BTDC but my strobe was showing that it fires earlier than it actualy opens.
So I am still confused as to why. The strobe also shows my mark to jump between 19 and 25 which is better than the 10 degrees it jumped yesterday.
Sooo... Something is fishy. Ive been out for a 50km jaunt this afternoon in glorious Autumn weather and it didn`t miss (although very slow in the hills) beat.
I need to either re-furbish my stator (new points and condensor) I think. Try and do a J125 6 pole conversion (hard to find) or bite the expensive bullet and fit the casa 12v system.
On a happy note, it appears that Rimini lambretta and Casa are working on a new "clubman" type pipe for the luna/lui 75cc conversion kit which will be ready before next season.
The parts to refurbish the Stator are available but I have been reading up on how poor the 4 pole lui stator was from new and my lights are non existent, so that may tip the scales against going through the trouble of fixing it.
