So after reading some of this thread (not all of it) I'm wondering if simply swapping the front brake arm for a longer clutch arm would increase braking power? Anyone tried it?

I tried. You need to bend it away from the rim. Also, the thingummy (trunnion?) that the cable end goes into after reverse pulling is too big for the notch in the clutch arm. The slot in the clutch arm is too small for the thicker brake cable.
I do think it's worth doing for two reasons: you'll get greater leverage, but more importantly you'll get better control. Mine really is too much for the suspension. I've got the bike in bits at the moment so I'll have a go at doing it properly; I was a bit lazy last time I prodded around at it.
I've got around £500 worth of brake components for my next project and I tend to think it's probably a waste of money!

Thanks for the replies guys, am thinking along the lines that I'm going to have potentially 20bhp when I get back on the road instead of 7 or 8 so possibly need to look at doing something I don't want a disc brake, like an expansion chamber it kills the look for me, may go for a reverse pull conversion using the standard arm then.

Best brake I have ever managed to set up is an inboard hydraulic on my 20bhp TS1. I did a reverse pull inboard disc on a 16/17bhp engine which, after quite a bit of fettling, worked well. The hydraulic was better though.
That said, I believe outboard front hydraulic brakes can be too fierce.

So they say. But there must be any amount of peds out there with disc brakes that probably give a bit more feel. Has anyone adapted one of those?

Zip front wheel can, allegedly, be adapted.
