I'm running standard fan/cowl, static ignition timing.
Temps I see when on road are about 200 - 220 degrees F for plug, seen it get to about 240 degrees.
My data logging is still a bit noddy, I couldn't say how accurate the actual figures are but it's useful as a comparison tool.
Not messed with head, ignition timing and temps much yet, but it's on my list to do.
Here's a graph of some sprint runs.
Edit: changed from degrees c to f, duh.

Interesting stuff, thanks Wilf. I suppose if you are happy with temps, no need to mess. And when you make performance mods, you at least have a yardstick to measure by.
Have you any other info you can share with us, like what timing is set at, compresion ratio, peak BHP, peak RPM etc?
Im only asking as when i run my MB air-cooled head i'll be monitoring head temps with a Stage 6 CHT gauge and its useful to know what other people are operating at by comparison.
I will be running a fairly rich setup on the road, with timig starting at 19 degrees coming back to about 12k @ 9000rpm, and the head is low comp (approx 9:1)....so as and when i make any 'performance' mods for sprinting/track use, it'll be interesting to see hwat happens to the temperatures.

There's a dyno somewhere on the site, abot 36bhp @8500, ignition is static about 17 we've not really tried much out Btw that graph is bollox figures in F not centigrade, I think

Dan, any results from this mb head you said you were going to fit? Or anyone else stuck one on & pleased with it?

I love mine...but as you know it went pop on the way to Mersea...and I haven't stripped it down yet

, but it looks like a piston issue.
Last year I did nearly 2000 trouble free rally miles on it
