Same for me, it was a Royspeed 125 road tuned bike back in around 1971/2 with a bloody great 30mm Amal Concentric stuck on it. I was a pillion on it one night when we got into a bit of a race down a steed hill with 2 mates on a GT200. At the bottom of the hill there was a smallish roundabout and the GT went into it with the exhaust box scrapping and throwing sparks out. The rider of the vega I was on saw his oportunity and we undertook on the INSIDE  .....I nearly shat myself  When he whipped it back over to the left for the exit of the roundabout I'll swear you could feel the frame flex ......That was probably one of the last times I saw that gut (Mick Moore) as he was killed in in a car crash a bit later

I had one too. Well nearly, it was a Cento.
Got a Fantic piston from Allspeed(Southend), had Graham at Kegra hand build an expansion(no kickstart could fit-girlfriend wasn't very chuffed as it was her scoot :)) Had a 30mm Mk1 Amal, "borrowed" from a Local Norton(didn't even chage the jets :) ). I think I used about four or five base gaskets to get the cylinder at the right place, and obviuosly flowed everything up a little. Didn't like low end, but would scream when it got going.
Rode it from Ipswich to Morecombe in 84? two up with tents and that. Blew a tire near in Norfolk and got the AA the rest of the way up. Blagged a tire from Graham when we got there so we didn't cut into beer money.
On the way back we went by way of Matlock which was a bit hairy. Screamed the scoot the whole way back with the only prob being the three producers I picked up along the way.
That's not going anywhere...

The hill I refered to in my post was Bishop's Hill in Ipswich, if you know it you will also know ow tight that roundabout is at the bottom.

The Vega I had a go on belonged to a lad from Warrington called Andy Kettle. He had a few nice road scooters over the years but The racing Vega is the one I remember Best. I think he went racing late 79 to early 80 this would be when he did his newcomers. We used to call him Kes, anyone on here remember him ??
