Yes, the SX200 kick start is longer. It means you will be able to get the engine to turn over easier when you start it.

Will have to check up on that, goes it's all in Stickys manual. I don't see why someone would change the original kickstart on this engine. Could it be it's a series 2 kickstart from left over stock when S3 production started?

They probably changed it for the exact same reasons I mentioned. Most scooters have had a long and chequered life and it's quite normal to find parts replaced. I shouldn't worry about it. It's a plus, and they are actually quite valuable. I think the S2 kick start would be shorter than a S3.

Now it was time to add the cowling. I quickly realized it couldn’t go on without me removing the exhaust manifold.
Since I had to unscrew it to get the cowling on I thought I might as well try the trick I read about in a Lambretta forum thread about using the chain guide locking washer.

Latest update.
I have chosen to go down the semi hyd route.
i choose a master out of a Piaggio bike, bought a plate to fasten the master on. I popped in a ScootRS slave cylinder in the front hub back plate.
I will have to shorten the outer cable and add a Piaggio like brake light switch.

Now finally after 2 broken engine bolts the engine is back into the frame!
I've also added a escort shock. I have one on the other Lambretta and it works quite ok considering price and performance!

Time to update this thread, I have been able to spend some time in the garage and fettle with the scoot.
One thin I've done is to add a Vespa P stye brake light switch to the front brake lever
https://tv175.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/ ... lic-setup/
I've put the engine back in the frame and added the rear shock:
https://tv175.wordpress.com/2012/11/14/ ... ear-shock/
I've temporarily set the cables up for clutch and gear change so that the handlebar lever sits straight and firm.
https://tv175.wordpress.com/2012/12/04/ ... ear-light/
They were set up with a new adjuster block
i went LED since the scoot is going to be full DC
Ordered a quality hose from Beedspeed and installed it
Refitted the rearhub and preliminary tightened it
https://tv175.wordpress.com/2013/01/08/rear-hub-refit/
Next up its rear wheel, electrics and airbox/Tank refit. But before that I need to investigate the Speedometer Issue:
