There is a yellow wire from each end of the lighting coils to give dc.
The lt coil is rewound to give roughly double the spark.
All earths are bolted.
Voltage drop??????? Please explain
A voltage drop its a way of measuring a charging voltage thats available, usually done through a single circuit so there's no variant in resistances in the circuit causing current to flow more or less into each circuit, so the test is done without a battery fitted, through a known resistance and a known load applied to the circuit, the voltage will drop as the load is increased, (and rise as revs are increased to a point) from this the power thats produced can be fairly accurately plotted against revs and then directly compared to other systems using the same test rig..

I think Ive explained that right, if not I will check and correct later...

You never mentioned the wire gauge used for the lighting coils. Is it 1mm and approx 80 windings per bobbin?

Did they use the standard gauge wire and apply just more windings on the LT or did they use a slightly thinner wire, possibly 0.9mm to get the higher voltage but again more windings, what's the impedence now its been re-wound...

SIL electrics could be improved alot... and whats already been achieved here is probably a very good way to do it... 8-)

Blimey J1MS if I knew all that I'd be rewinding myself

Not fitted yet Mark, I can fit but not run it as my top end is having some work done, maybe a couple of months yet :-(

Mike, are you sure that pick up is Italian?
The one in your picture appears to be made by Swiss, which are and Indian company based in Delhi. :?

Worth noting is that they supply the new Italian pickup at cost in this job, these would cost over £35 if bought on it's own.

Ps. I am not doubting the quality or their excellent service.

I fitted a Swiss [Indian!] stator to a Rally, and the pickup failed very quickly...
The stator did come from beedspeed though.
